Accessing Analytics
Open Dashboard
- Go to Roadmap > Analytics in WordPress admin
- Dashboard loads with current data
- Charts and tables appear
What You See
The analytics page shows:
- Overview Cards - Key metrics at a glance
- Charts - Visual data representation
- Tables - Detailed breakdowns
- Filters - Refine your view
Overview Metrics
Total Items
What it shows:
- Total number of roadmap items
- All statuses included
- Across all products (or filtered)
Use it to:
- Track roadmap size
- Monitor growth over time
- Plan capacity
Total Votes
What it shows:
- Sum of all votes across all items
- Reflects overall engagement
- All-time total
Use it to:
- Measure community engagement
- Track participation trends
- Identify popular periods
Total Comments
What it shows:
- All comments on roadmap items
- Discussions and feedback
- Community interaction level
Use it to:
- Gauge discussion activity
- Identify engaged users
- Monitor feedback volume
Active Users
What it shows:
- Unique users who have voted
- Measures community size
- Active participants
Use it to:
- Understand user base
- Track engagement growth
- Measure reach
Charts
Status Distribution (Doughnut Chart)
What it shows:
Breakdown of items by status:
- Planned: X items
- In Progress: Y items
- Completed: Z items
- Etc.
How to read it:
- Each slice = one status
- Size = proportion of items
- Hover for exact numbers
- Click legend to toggle status
Use it to:
- See workflow balance
- Identify bottlenecks
- Check if too many items stuck
- Monitor completion rate
Example insights:
- 60% in "Planned" → Review and start work
- 5% "Completed" → Speed up delivery
- Too many statuses → Simplify workflow
Votes Over Time (Line Chart)
What it shows:
Daily vote counts for selected period:
- X-axis: Dates
- Y-axis: Number of votes
- Line: Vote trend
How to read it:
- Upward trend: Growing engagement
- Spikes: Viral items or promotions
- Flat: Consistent activity
- Downward: Declining interest
Use it to:
- Track engagement patterns
- Identify seasonal trends
- Measure marketing impact
- Spot viral moments
Example insights:
- Spike on launch day → Announcement worked
- Gradual increase → Growing user base

Popular Items
What it shows:
Top 10 items by vote count:
- Item title (clickable)
- Vote count
- Comment count
How to read it:
- Sorted by votes (highest first)
- Click title to edit item
- See vote/comment ratio
Use it to:
- Prioritize development
- Identify must-have features
- Understand user needs
- Validate assumptions
Actions to take:
- Review top 5 items weekly
- Schedule high-voted items
- Update status regularly
- Respond to comments
Recent Activity
What it shows:
Last 20 activities including:
- Activity type (vote, comment, status change)
- Item number
- Date and time
How to read it:
- Newest first
- Real-time updates
- All activity types
Use it to:
- Monitor recent engagement
- See what's active
- Track changes
- Spot trends
Activity types:
- Vote - User voted on item
- Comment - New comment posted
- Status - Status changed
- Created - New item added
Filtering Analytics
Product Filter
What it does:
Shows data for specific product only.
How to use:
- Click Product dropdown
- Select product or "All Products"
- Analytics update automatically
Use cases:
- Compare products
- Focus on one product
- Report on specific product
Period Filter
Available periods:
- 7 days - Last week's data
- 30 days - Last month (default)
- 90 days - Last quarter
- 1 year - Annual trends
How to use:
- Click Period dropdown
- Select time range
- All data updates
Choosing period:
- 7 days: Weekly reviews
- 30 days: Monthly reports
- 90 days: Quarterly planning
- 1 year: Long-term trends
Refresh Button
What it does:
Reloads latest data from database.
When to use:
- After bulk changes
- Before meetings
- To see latest votes
- Clear cache
Click ↻ Refresh button at top.
Exporting Data
Export to CSV
What it exports:
Current analytics view as CSV file including:
- All visible metrics
- Chart data
- Table data
- Filtered results
How to export:
- Set filters (product, period)
- Click Export button
- File downloads automatically
- Filename:
roadmap-analytics-YYYY-MM-DD.csv
Use exported data for:
- Presentations
- Spreadsheet analysis
- Stakeholder reports
- Historical tracking
CSV contains:
- Date ranges
- Metric summaries
- Item lists with votes
- Activity logs
Reading the Data
Identifying Trends
Engagement growing:
- Votes over time trending up
- Active users increasing
- More comments
Action: Keep promoting roadmap
Engagement declining:
- Votes trending down
- Fewer active users
- Less discussion
Action: Re-engage community, add items
Finding Priorities
High votes, no progress:
- Item has many votes
- Still in "Planned"
- Users waiting
Action: Move to "In Progress"
Low votes, high priority:
- Item critical for product
- Few user votes

Action: Explain importance, proceed anyway
Spotting Issues
Too many items:
- 100+ items across all statuses
- Users overwhelmed
