# Finding and activating your licence key

## Where your key is

Sign in at https://wbcomdesigns.com/my-account/ and open the **Licenses** tab. Each product has its own key.

## Activating

In WordPress, go to the product's settings screen, paste the key into the licence field and save. The status should change to Active.

## When activation fails

Three causes account for nearly all of it:

**The site URL does not match.** A licence is bound to the domain it was activated on. `example.com` and `www.example.com` can count as different sites, as can `http` and `https`. Check what WordPress reports under Settings, then General.

**You have hit the activation limit.** Your licence covers a set number of sites, and **staging and development copies count toward that limit**. If you have cloned a site, the clone may have silently consumed an activation. Deactivate the key on sites you no longer use, from the Licenses tab.

**The licence has expired.** Check the expiry date on the Licenses tab. Renew to reactivate.

## Moving a licence to a different site

Deactivate it on the old site first, either from the plugin's settings screen or from the Licenses tab in your account, then activate on the new one.
